This winter, we’re helping to fundraise for the Maine Harvest Bucks program. Since 2015, Maine Harvest Bucks has helped tens of thousands of Mainers access more than $2 million in healthy local food from farmers’ markets. The demand on the program has grown significantly since the pandemic started - doubling the program’s size in the last 2 years.
We are calling on our community members who value local food access for all to make a donation to Maine Harvest Bucks. Your donation allows farmers’ markets across Maine to offer bonus bucks to households with low-income, so they can buy extra fruits and vegetables from local farms. Every dollar we put into this program yields $4 in direct sales to local food producers. Maine Harvest Bucks boosts the resilience of our food system - strengthening farmers’ markets and lessening the burden on food pantries.
Donations go to the Maine Federation of Farmers’ Markets, who administer the program statewide. You have 3 ways to donate!
