From Bath Housing Authority…2/11/2020
“Bath Housing received 646 pounds of produce from the Merrymeeting Gleaners in 2019. This produce is distributed to residents, who recently circulated a thank you card for the gleaners as a result of this appreciation (with special gratitude for beets, in particular).
The gleaners work to increase access to healthy local food and reduce on-farm food waste. They glean produce from 31 farms in the fields and at two farmers markets, and donated 50,880 pounds of food to 35 organizations in 15 towns.
One resident said, "I'm super grateful. I cook and I have used so much of their food. I made roasted root vegetables and had them for breakfast this morning." This is another example of a partnership that is making a difference.”
